OUR UNBELIEFS

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, July 03, 2015:

wisdom 070315

Thomas called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.  So the other disciples said to him, “WE HAVE SEEN THE LORD.”

But Thomas said to them, “UNLESS I SEE THE MARK OF THE NAILS IN HIS HANDS AND PUT MY FINGER INTO THE NAILMARKS AND PUT MY HAND INTO HIS SIDE, I WILL NOT BELIEVE.”

Now a week later His disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them.  Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”

Then He said to Thomas, “PUT YOUR FINGER HERE AND SEE MY HANDS, AND BRING YOU HAND AND PUT IT INTO MY SIDE, AND DO NOT BE UNBELIEVING BUT BELIEVE.”

Thomas answered and said to Him, “MY LORD AND MY GOD!’

Jesus said to him, “HAVE YOU COME TO BELIEVE BECAUSE YOU HAVE SEEN ME? BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN AND HAVE BELIEVED.”

-From the Gospel of John 20: 24-29

REAP WHAT YOU SOW

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, June 17, 2015:

wisdom 061715

Brothers and sisters: WHOEVER SOWS SPARINGLY WILL ALSO REAP SPARINGLY, AND WHOEVER SOWS BOUNTIFULLY WILL ALSO REAP BOUNTIFULLY.

Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER.  Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work.

As it is written: He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.  The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.  You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God.

– From the book of 2 Corinthians 9: 6-11

Reflections:

*What have we sown so far?

*Do we expect to reap something without sowing?

*Do we believe that He will always provide for the sower?

A NEW CREATION

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, June 13, 2015:

wisdom 061315

So WHOEVER IS IN CHRIST IS A NEW CREATION: THE OLD THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD, NEW THINGS HAVE COME.

And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation, namely God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting their trespasses against them and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

SO WE ARE AMBASSADOR FOR CHRIST, as if God were appealing through us.  We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  For our sake He made him to be sin who did not know sin, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

– From 2 Corinthians 5: 14-21

+++

Reflections:

*Would we like to be a new creation?

*Have we discovered Christ already?

*Will we be willing to be one of His ambassadors on earth?

YOU ARE BLESSED

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, June 08, 2015:

wisdom 060815

When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, His disciples came to Him.  He began to teach them saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.

REJOICE AND BE GLAD, for your reward will be great in heaven.  Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

-From the Gospel of Matthew 5: 1-12

Reflections:

*How can we be blessed?

*Do we deserve to be among the blessed?

*Are we ready to embrace His teachings so we can rejoice and be glad?

LARGE SUMS

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, June 06, 2015

wisdom 060615ns

Jesus sat down opposite the treasure and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury.

Many rich people put in LARGE SUMS.  A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents.  Calling His disciples to Himself, He said to them, “AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, THIS POOR WIDOW PUT IN MORE THAN ALL THE OTHER CONTRIBUTORS TO THE TREASURY.  FOR THEY HAVE ALL CONTRIBUTED FROM THEIR SURPLUS WEALTH, BUT SHE, FROM HER POVERTY, HAS CONTRIBUTED ALL SHE HAD, HER WHOLE LIVELIHOOD.”

–  From the Gospel of Mark 12: 41:44

+++

Reflections:

*How much do we give back to church?

*Do we still include tithing among our priorities?

*Do we still treat our wealth as His blessings?

+++

Saint of the Day:

St. Norbert, pray for us.
