YOU WILL NEVER DIE

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today

wisdom 072915

Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother (Lazarus, who had died).  When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home.  Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.  But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.”

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise.”  Martha said to Him, “I know he will rise, in the resurrection on the last day.”  Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and anyone who lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this?”  She said to Him, “Yes, Lord.  I have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world.”

From the Gospel of John 11: 19-27

Reflections:

*Do you believe this too?

*Do you still need proof so as to believe?

*Is Jesus your savior and friend?

HAVE FAITH

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, May 29, 2015:

wisdom 052915

Jesus said to them in reply,

“HAVE FAITH IN GOD.  Amen, I say to you, WHOEVER SAYS TO THIS MOUNTAIN, ‘BE LIFTED UP AND THROWN INTO THE SEA,’ AND DOES NOT DOUBT IN HIS HEART BUT BELIEVES THAT WHAT HE SAYS WILL HAPPEN, IT SHALL BE DONE FOR HIM.

Therefore I tell you, ALL THAT YOU ASK FOR IN PRAYER, BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE IT AND IT SHALL BE YOURS.

WHEN YOU STAND TO PRAY, FORGIVE ANYONE AGAINST WHOM YOU HAVE GRIEVANCE, SO THAT YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER MAY IN TURN FORGIVE YOU YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS.”

– From the Gospel of Mark 11: 22-25

Reflections:

*What is bigger in us, doubt or faith?

*Do we pray with great faith or do we pray with great doubt?

*Have we forgiven those who have caused us grievance before praying?

WORLDLY TROUBLE

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, May 18, 2015:

wisdom 051815

The disciples said to Jesus:  “Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech.  Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you.  Because of this we believe that you came from God.”

Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now? Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone.  But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.  I have told you this so that you might have peace in me.  IN THE WORLD YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE, BUT TAKE COURAGE, I HAVE CONQUERED THE WORLD.”

-From the Gospel of John 16: 29-33

+++

Reflections:

*When did we start believing in Jesus?

*What (Who) triggered us to believe in Him?

*Do we still have the courage to conquer our troubles?

Saint of the Day:

St. John I, pray for us.

BELIEVE & GO!

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, April 11, 2015 (Easter Saturday)

wisdom 041115

When Jesus had risen early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had driven seven demons.

She went and told His companions who were mourning and weeping.  When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

After this He appeared in another form to two of them walking along on their way to the country.  They returned and told the others; but they did not believe them either.

But later, as the Eleven were at the table, He appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw Him after He had been raised.  He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”

-From the Gospel of Mark 16: 9-15

Reflections:

  • How hard are our hearts?
  • Do we see Christ alive in us?
  • To whom have we proclaim His Gospel so far?

Saint of the Day:

St. Marguerite d’Youville, Foundress of the Sisters of Charity, pray for us.

Soften your hearts,

CAN YOU FAIL FORWARD?

From the book It Only Takes Everything You’ve Got by Julio Melara.

“Failure comes easily to everyone, but the price for success is perseverance.” – Julio Melara

B.C. Forbes said, “History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed.  They finally won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.”

If you sometimes get discouraged, consider this fellow:

– He dropped out of grade school

– Ran a business but went broke

– Took 15 years to pay off his bills

– Wife died

– Ran for the House of Representatives but lost twice

– Ran for Senate but lost twice

– Delivered a speech that became a classic

– Audience indifferent

– Attacked daily by the press and despised by half the country

Despite all these, imagine how many people all over the world have been inspired by this awkward, rumpled, brooding man who signed his name simply as, A. LINCOLN

You can do it too!
