YOUR LAST 30 DAYS

IF YOU HAD ONLY 30 DAYS LEFT, HOW WILL YOU LIVE?

30 days

IMAGINE THIS – When you woke up this morning, the phone rings.  You’re still in your pajamas, drinking your coffee.  You stand up and pick up the phone.

You hear your doctor’s voice.  In a very somber tone, he says, “I have to say this to you because I’m your friend and I’m your doctor.  I’m now holding in my hand the results of your medical tests.  I’m very sorry, but you’re going to die in 30 days.”

The shock is overwhelming.  The room around you starts to spin.  You sit down.  “Thirty days?  But that’s so soon…”

I know this is scary.

Let me ask you.

HOW WOULD YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE DURING THOSE 30 DAYS?

What appointments will you make?

What appointments will you drop?

What will you include in your daily schedule?

What will you prioritize?

What will you give away?

What will you say to your loved ones?

What will you not say to your loved ones?

How will you pray?  What will you pray for?

STARTING TODAY, LIVE THE NEXT 30 DAYS AS THOUGH THEY WERE YOUR LAST.

*NOT ALL OF US CAN DO GREAT THINGS – BUT, WE CAN DO SMALL THINGS WITH GREAT LOVE.

*I ALONE CANNOT CHANGE THE WORLD – BUT, I CAN CAST A STONE ACROSS THE WATERS TO CREATE MANY RIPPLES.

*THESE ARE THE WAYS WE CAN PRACTICE HUMILITY: SPEAK AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE ABOUT YOURSELF.  MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. AVOID MANAGING OTHER PEOPLE’S AFFAIRS. AVOID CURIOSITY. ACCEPT CONTRADICTIONS AND CORRECTIONS CHEERFULLY.  ACCEPT INSULTS AND INJURIES.  ACCEPT BEING SLIGHTED, FORGOTTEN AND DISLIKED.  BE KIND AND GENTLE, EVEN UNDER PROVOCATION. ALWAYS CHOOSE THE HARDEST.

*I’M A LITTLE PENCIL IN THE HAND OF WRITING GOD, WHO IS SENDING A LOVE LETTER TO THE WORLD.

*PRAYER ISN’T ASKING, IT’S PUTTING YOURSELF IN THE HANDS OF GOD – AND LISTENING TO HIS VOICE IN DEPTH OF OUR HEARTS.

*IF YOU’RE HUMBLE, NEITHER PRAISE NOR DISGRACE CAN TOUCH YOU – BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

*A LIFE NOT LIVED FOR OTHERS ISN’T LIFE AT ALL!

*NEVER WORRY ABOUT NUMBERS.  HELP ONE PERSON AT A TIME – AND ALWAYS START WITH THE PERSON NEAREST YOU.

*GIVE YOURSELF FULLY TO GOD.  HE’LL USE YOU TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS ON THE CONDITION THAT YOU BELIEVE MUCH MORE IN HIS LOVE THAN IN YOUR WEAKNESS.

*PEOPLE ARE UNREALISTIC, ILLOGICAL AND SELF-CENTERED – BUT LOVE THEM ANYWAY.

*LOVE IS FRUIT IN SEASON AT ALL TIMES – AND WITHIN REACH OF EVERY HAND!

WHAT IS YOUR POSITION?

OUR ONE MINUTE WISDOM FOR TODAY, MARCH 14, 2015:

wisdom 031415

“Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.

The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself. ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity–greedy, dishonest, adulterous–or even like the tax collector.  I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’

But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’

I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.

-Jesus in Luke 18: 9-14

Reflections:

*Are we humble?

*Do we pray for mercy?

*Who are we like when we pray, Pharisee or the tax collector?

ARE YOU IN LOVE?

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, March 13, 2015:

wisdom 031315

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked Him, “Which is the first of all the commandments?”

Jesus replied, “The first is this…The Lord our God is Lord alone!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.

The second is this:  You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  There is no other commandment greater than these…

When Jesus saw that the scribe answered with understanding, he said to him. “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”

– From the Gospel of Mark 12: 28-34

Reflections:

* Who do we love?

* What do we love?

* Is that love bringing us closer Kingdom of God?
