THE BRUISED REED

rest2

“Here is my servant, whom I have chosen; the one I love, and with whom I am pleased.  I will put my spirit upon him; and he will announce my judgment to the nations.

He will not argue or shout, nor will his voice be heard in the streets.  THE BRUISED REED he will not crush, nor snuff out the smoldering wick until he brings justice to victory, and in him, all the nations will put their hope.”

Prophet Isaiah’s prophecy (Gospel of Matthew 12: 14-21)

HAVE YOU BEEN OBEDIENT?

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today:

wisdom 091515

In the days when Christ was in the flesh, HE OFFERED PRAYERS AND SUPPLICATIONS WITH LOUD CRIES AND TEARS TO THE ONE WHO WAS ABLE TO SAVE HIM FROM DEATH, AND HE WAS HEARD BECAUSE OF HIS REVERENCE.  SON THOUGH HE WAS, HE LEARNED OBEDIENCE FROM WHAT HE SUFFERED; AND WHEN HE WAS MADE PERFECT, HE BECAME THE SOURCE OF ETERNAL SALVATION FOR ALL WHO OBEY HIM.

From the book of Hebrews 5: 7-9

Reflections:

  1.  Do we still pray?
  2. How and to whom do we pray?
  3. If Jesus prayed to His Father, should we also be praying like Him?

SPEAK WHAT YOU KNOW

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, April 14, 2015

wisdom 041415

Jesus said to Nicodemus: “’You must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can this happen?”

Jesus answered and said to Him, “You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this?  Amen, amen, I say to you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?  No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.  And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.”

-From the Gospel o f John 3: 7 -15

Reflections:

  • Do we believe in the testimonies of Christ and His disciples?
  • Do we believe that there is heaven?
  • Do we believe that Jesus is the way to getting there?

ARE YOU CLEAN?

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, April 02, 2015 (Holy Thursday)

wisdom 040215

He came to Simon Peter, who said to Him, “Master, are you going to wash my feet?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later.”

Peter said to Him, “You will never wash my feet.”  Jesus answered him, “Unless I was you, you will have no inheritance with me.”

Simon Peter said to him, “Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well.”

Jesus said to him, “Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all.”

For He knew who would betray Him; for this reason, He said, “Not all of you are clean.”

So when He had washed their feet and put His garments back on and reclined at table again, He said to them, “Do you realize what I have done for you?  You call me ‘teacher’ and ‘master’, and rightly so, for indeed I am.  If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet.  I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.”

– From the Gospel of John 13: 1-15

Reflections:

*  Would we like Jesus to wash our feet?

*  Are we among those who not only want Jesus to wash them with water but also His blood?

*  Are we ready to serve and wash others feet?
