Will You Approve?

From the humble Apostle Paul…

“People refuse to keep in mind the true knowledge about God, he has given them over to corrupted minds, SO THAT THEY DO THE THINGS THAT THEY SHOULD NOT DO.

They are filled with all kinds of wickedness, evil, greed, and vice; they are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, deceit, and malice.

They gossip and speak evil of one another; they are hateful to God, insolent, proud and boastful; they think of more ways to do evil; they disobey their parents; they have no conscience; they do not keep their promises, and they show no kindness or pity for others.

THEY KNOW THAT GOD’S LAW SAYS THAT PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THIS WAY DESERVE DEATH.  YET, NOT ONLY DO THEY CONTINUE TO DO THESE VERY THINGS, BUT THEY EVEN APPROVE OF OTHERS WHO DO THEM.”

(Romans 1: 28-32)

TAKE NOTHING WITH YOU

Our Daily Dose of Wisdom:

wisdom 092315

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

He said to them, “TAKE NOTHING FOR THE JOURNEY, NEITHER WALKING STICK, NOR SACK, NOR FOOD, NOR MONEY, AND LET NO ONE TAKE A SECOND TUNIC.  WHATEVER HOUSE YOU ENTER, STAY THERE AND LEAVE FROM THERE.  AND AS FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT WELCOME YOU, WHEN YOU LEAVE THAT TOWN, SHAKE THE DUST FROM YOUR FEET IN TESTIMONY AGAINST THEM.”

Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, April 11, 2015 (Easter Saturday)

wisdom 041115

When Jesus had risen early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had driven seven demons.

She went and told His companions who were mourning and weeping.  When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

After this He appeared in another form to two of them walking along on their way to the country.  They returned and told the others; but they did not believe them either.

But later, as the Eleven were at the table, He appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw Him after He had been raised.  He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”

-From the Gospel of Mark 16: 9-15

HAVE YOU CAUGHT ANYTHING?

Our One Minute Wisdom for Today, April 10, 2015 (Easter Friday)

Jesus revealed Himself again to His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias.  He revealed Himself in this way.

Together were Simon, Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two others of his disciples.

Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”  They said to him, “We also will come with you.”

So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore; but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.  Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?”  They answered Him, “No.”  So He said to them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat and you will find something.”

So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in because of the number of fish.  So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.”  When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea.

The other disciples came in the boat, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards, dragging the net with the fish.  When they climbed out on shore, they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread.

Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.”  So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore full of one hundred fifty-three large fish. Even though there were so many, the net was not torn.

Jesus said to them, “Come, have breakfast.”  And none of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are you?” because they realized it was the Lord.

-From the Gospel of John 21: 1-14

Reflections:

  • Shall we help Jesus fish for men?
  • Have we caught any “fish” in our lifetime?
  • Will we qualify to be invited by Jesus for breakfast?
